This Time, I’m Voting

EYCA and the European Parliament work together to boost youth turnout in the 2019 EU elections

Through the Memorandum of Understanding, EYCA and the European Parliament commit to joining forces to encourage more young people to participate in the upcoming EU elections and become more engaged in the democratic process at all levels, from the local to the European.

EYCA will work to support the European Parliament campaign for the EU elections 2019 – This Time, I’m Voting. European Youth Card communications channels will be used to inform the over 6 million cardholders on the importance of participating in the elections and casting their vote. Cardholders will also have the opportunity to participate in events related to the elections and organised by the European Parliament.

At the same time, the European Parliament will support EYCA initiatives aiming to raise awareness of the EU elections among European Youth Cardholders, most of whom are non-organised young people.

“As always, we are committed to empowering young people and giving them the tools they need to get informed and make a difference by voting. We are very happy to work together with the European Parliament to achieve this goal and encourage as many young people as possible to take ownership of the European Project.” Manel Sanchez, EYCA Director

EYCA will also organise a large-scale initiative in support of youth participation in the EU elections in collaboration with 12 of its member organisations in EU member states. Other EYCA members in EU member states will support this initiative. In addition, EYCA members outside the EU will also encourage their cardholders to get involved in the democratic process at the national and local levels.
