The Museum of the Lublin City History, a branch of the National Museum in Lublin, is located in the historic Kraków Gate.
Construction of the gate began during the reign of King Casimir the Great in the mid-14th century. It served as the main entrance through the city walls and opened onto the road to Kraków – hence its name. Over the following centuries, the structure was expanded to include a gatehouse and additional storeys added to the tower. Throughout its history, it shared the fortunes of the city. In the 19th century, paintings of the Virgin Mary and St Anthony of Padua were placed in the gate.
Since 1965, the Kraków Gate has functioned as an exhibition space. The permanent exhibition traces the history of Lublin from the early settlement period and the foundation of the city through its development up to 1944. The city’s cultural heritage is presented through archaeological and iconographic artefacts, ephemera, and materials relating to social and artistic life, as well as the economy and industry. The exhibits are arranged around a spiral staircase across four floors. From the top floor, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city.

Muzeum Historii Miasta Lublina (oddział Muzeum Narodowego w Lublinie) mieści się w zabytkowej Bramie Krakowskiej.
Zaczęto ją wznosić w czasach króla Kazimierza Wielkiego w połowie XIV wieku. Była główną bramą w obrębie murów obronnych miasta. Prowadziła w kierunku Krakowa, czemu zawdzięcza swą nazwę. Przez następne stulecia rozbudowano ją o przedbramie i kolejne kondygnacje wieży. Na przestrzeni dziejów dzieliła losy miasta. W XIX wieku zawieszono na niej obrazy z wizerunkami Matki Bożej oraz św. Antoniego Padewskiego.
Od 1965 roku przestrzeń Bramy pełni funkcje ekspozycyjne. Wystawa stała ukazuje dzieje Lublina od okresu osadniczego, poprzez lokację i rozwój miasta, do 1944 roku. Dziedzictwo kulturowe ilustrują zabytki archeologiczne, ikonograficzne, druki ulotne oraz materiały dotyczące życia społecznego i artystycznego, gospodarki i przemysłu. Eksponaty rozmieszczono na czterech piętrach wokół spiralnej klatki schodowej. Z ostatniej kondygnacji Bramy Krakowskiej można podziwiać panoramę miasta.
