The Eagle Pharmacy, located on Ghetto Heroes Square, is one of Kraków’s most moving historical sites. During the German occupation it was the only pharmacy operating inside the Kraków Ghetto, and its owner, Tadeusz Pankiewicz, was the only non‑Jewish Pole allowed to remain within its borders. From this small space he offered aid to the imprisoned Jewish community — providing medicine, shelter, information and moral support, often at great personal risk.
After the war the building gradually became a place of remembrance. Today the pharmacy’s interior has been recreated to reflect its wartime appearance, and the museum’s exhibition presents the daily reality of life in the ghetto and the stories of those who attempted to save others. It is an intimate and emotionally powerful museum, preserving the memory of courage, humanity and resistance in a time of persecution.

Apteka pod Orłem to jedno z najbardziej poruszających miejsc na mapie Krakowa, związane bezpośrednio z tragedią krakowskiego getta i postacią Tadeusza Pankiewicza. Budynek przy placu Bohaterów Getta 18 był podczas okupacji jedyną apteką, która pozostała w granicach getta, a Pankiewicz — jedynym Polakiem, któremu pozwolono w nim pozostać. Właśnie stąd udzielał pomocy mieszkańcom getta, zapewniając im lekarstwa, ukrycie, informacje i wsparcie, narażając siebie i swój personel na konsekwencje ze strony okupantów.
Po wojnie miejsce to stało się symbolem solidarności i odwagi. Wnętrze apteki zostało odtworzone tak, aby zachować atmosferę tamtych lat, a współczesna ekspozycja przedstawia codzienność getta, dramatyczne decyzje podejmowane przez jego mieszkańców oraz działalność osób ratujących życie. Muzeum tworzy niezwykle intymną przestrzeń pamięci, w której historie zapisane w relacjach, dokumentach i przedmiotach ukazują ludzką odporność w obliczu terroru.
