The Greater Poland Independence Museum in Poznań tells the story of the region’s struggle for freedom – from Prussian rule and the victorious Greater Poland Uprising to World War II resistance and the 1956 Poznań protests. Its exhibitions span several historic sites, including the Guardhouse on the Old Market Square and the former Fort Winiary within the Poznań Citadel, where the Museum of Weaponry and the Army “Poznań” Museum are located. Presenting more than 20,000 artefacts, the institution highlights military history, civic resistance and the perseverance of the people of Wielkopolska in their pursuit of independence.

Wielkopolskie Muzeum Niepodległości w Poznaniu dokumentuje historię walk Wielkopolan o wolność – od czasów zaboru pruskiego i Powstania Wielkopolskiego, przez II wojnę światową, aż po protesty poznańskie z czerwca 1956 roku. Muzeum działa w kilku lokalizacjach, obejmując m.in. Odwach na Starym Rynku, ekspozycje na terenie Cytadeli (Muzeum Uzbrojenia oraz Muzeum Armii „Poznań”), a także przestrzeń poświęconą wydarzeniom Czerwca ’56. Prezentuje ponad 20 tysięcy obiektów – od dokumentów i fotografii po uzbrojenie i militaria – ukazujących zarówno zwycięskie zrywy, jak i martyrologię oraz codzienną walkę o zachowanie tożsamości narodowej.
